From the group's inception in the mid-'70s onward, the New York-based Controlled Bleeding remained ane of the around prolific and unpredictable American industrial bands, exploring the extremes of both unchecked sonic madness and free-floating ambient nickname.

Light-emitting diode by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Paul Lemos, a senior high English instructor by day, Controlled Bleeding released their debut EP, Wall of China Love Letter, in 1979; a series of abrasive cassettes followed ahead the radical issued its first uncut exertion, Knees and Bones, in 1983.

Following the typically aggressive Body Samples in 1984, the 1985 release Between Tides establish the radical (consisting of Lemos, drummer Joe Papa and keyboardist Chris Moriarty) branching out into more serene, atmospheric act; the movement continued on Head Crack and Curd (both 1986), and by 1987's Centre, the first Controlled Bleeding LP issued in their home nation, the music had become virtually implemental, peppered with jazz and regular classical elements.

As the group's appetence for change grew, so did its interest in melody, as evidenced by the track "Rings of Fire" from 1989's Songs From the Grinding Wall EP; however, the same record's lead abridge, "Crack the Body," proved that Controlled Bleeding's fascination with industrial noise had not dimmed. Similarly, 1990's full-length, Trudge, covers a great deal of territory, including a stab at techno on "Crimes of the Body."

Hog Floor, issued in 1991, collects remixes, rarities, and unreleased music dating back to Knees and Bones. As Controlled Bleeding continued to mutate some iI decades afterwards the band's origin, the mid-'90s establish them focusing on ambient styles; Inanition, released in 1996, is a two-disc plant in this vein. The full-length album Our Journey's End followed in July of 2000.

Chuck Berry won't sing for "Johnny" in election

SAO PAULO (Reuters) - Republican candidate John McCain may have used his song in the U.S. presidential campaign, but veteran rock 'n' roller Chuck Berry has no doubt whom he wants to see in the White House next year.

"America has finally come to this point where you can pick a man of color and that not be a drawback," the legendary 81-year-old guitarist said of Barack Obama, who clinched the Democratic presidential nomination last week and would become the country's first black president if he wins in November.

"It's no question, myself being a man of color ... I mean, you have to feel good about it," Berry, himself a black pioneer in the 1950s music scene, told Reuters by phone from New York ahead of a Brazil tour that starts next week.

"Definitely a proud and successful moment for all the people of this country, not just black people, but Americans in general."

McCain, now preparing to take on Obama in the November presidential election, used Berry's hit "Johnny B. Goode" as an early campaign theme, although he has since switched to Abba's "Take a Chance On Me."

"Johnny B. Goode" turned 50 in January and topped the list of the 100 greatest guitar songs of all time that Rolling Stone magazine published this month.

"In the '50s there were certain places we couldn't ride on the bus," Berry said. "And now there is a possibility of a black man being in White House. Free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty, free at last," he said, quoting the words of a Negro spiritual song famously invoked by assassinated civil rights campaigner Martin Luther King Jr.

The first Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, known as the "father of rock 'n' roll," Berry has been on tour since the start of the year in the United States and Europe.

"It's to say that when you spend this much time with a bunch of dudes, you learn from one another and you learn something about yourself."Not sure what that's got to do with anything, but at the moment we listen to this record and think that all the time we spend together has as much to do with the album as anything else."The album follows last year's "We All Belong," which ranked No. 39 on Rolling Stone's year-end Top 50 Albums list.

DMX's Defamation Case Is Dismissed

LATEST: Rapper DMX has seen a defamation lawsuit against him dropped after a judge ruled the star was not at fault for missing a scheduled court hearing in January (08).
The Party Up (Up In Here) MC - real name Earl Simmons - was forced to pay out $1.5 million (GBP750,000) to the mother of his child, after failing to turn up to a Maryland court earlier this year (11Jan08) to defend himself against allegations of defamation.
Simmons was sued by Monique Wayne for defamation of character in 2006 after the star claimed in a interview with American magazine Sister 2 Sister that he was raped by the woman during a hotel stay in Baltimore in 2003.
But the star was given a reprieve on Friday (16May08) after Maryland Judge Thomas P. Smith agreed the star was unaware he was due in court, reports AllHipHop.com.
The 37-year-old hired The Murphy Firm to contest the ruling.
Hassan Murphy, a managing partner of the company, says, "Today a very large judgment was vacated by Judge Smith.
"The judge clearly agreed with us that Mr. Simmons was never properly notified and therefore he threw out the judgment."
But Simmons is still mired by legal drama - earlier this month (May08) he was arrested on numerous motor vehicle charges. In a separate incident, Simmons pleaded not guilty to various felony drug charges and animal cruelty charges.
